An international conference on energy conservation in an online participation format was held with energy management as the main topic under the joint sponsorship of the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) and ENPAP (Energy Efficiency Practitioners Association of the Philippines) 4.0 Inc. in Manila, the Philippines on December 10 and 11, 2021. The conference realized participation by related countries including each ASEAN country and Japan, and presentations were given on the energy management situation in each country, practical energy management activities, and related technologies.
ECCJ participated online in the conference from the perspective of Asia Energy Efficiency and Conservation Collaboration Center (AEEC) managed by ECCJ as a project under the instruction and financial support of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. In this role, ECCJ gave an explanation titled “Japan’s Benchmark System and ISO 50001” covering Japan’s latest energy conservation policies relating to energy management and the benchmark system which forms a key item of the policies, together with recent trends and policies concerning energy management.
The overall presentation topics of the conference included explanations of the situations in each country, the reporting of energy management case examples, and reports from corporations. In the reports from corporations, energy management-related presentations were given by organizations including Toyota Bangkok (development of human resources who are knowledgeable about mechanisms, etc.), ABB (building management systems), JEITA (Renkei control) and Atlas Copco (compressors). The presentations at the conference covering policies, practical implementation, and corporate activities were useful for sharing information relating to the practical implementation of energy conservation in the Philippines and other countries in the ASEAN region.
