class=”qowt-font4-Arial”>EMAK is one of the task groups of the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC) established at the G8 Meeting in 2009. This task group is participated in by 11 countries, including Japan as the leader. Workshops have been held nine times since 2010 for the purpose of sharing excellent case examples of industrial energy management among the member countries and for network building among the government staff members in charge of energy conservation policy and persons engaged in energy management. This was the first time that the Workshop was held in South America.

In addition to the 72 Workshop participants, persons from seven countries participated through an Internet broadcast to share information and build a network among related members from the government and private sectors.

In sharing of the excellent case examples of industrial energy management, providing incentives for companies to expand the shared examples and utilizing them in the supply chain to achieve standardization and improved quality of energy management was recognized as important for the future direction of EMAK. In network building, the need for information systems to share the case examples and for regional cooperation in the networks of each country were indicated.

As the cooperation that Japan can provide, the provision of information (policies and systems, government-private sector cooperative programs, accumulated excellent case examples, and advanced energy conservation technologies) through holding Workshops and the capacity building relating to energy conservation promotion were cited.
