ECCJ held an online workshop on energy efficiency of the industrial sector for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ) held an online workshop on February 17, 2022 for the Higher Institute for Plastics Fabrication (HIPF), which is jointly sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, energy efficiency is an important policy agenda in an aim to practically utilize its precious hydrocarbon resources and reach Net Zero in 2060 through the “Carbon Circular Economy” approach announced by HRH Crown Prince. To assist the challenge for energy efficiency in the Kingdom, the Japanese government has been working collaboratively with the Kingdom in many fields related to energy efficiency. In order to continue making the progress, this Workshop aims to nurture a young generation of the Kingdom as future experts of energy efficiency while cultivating new strategies to promote energy efficiency in the industrial sector and even in their daily life through sharing experiences and exchanging ideas between experts from the Kingdom and from Japan.

The main topics were as follows.
(1) Current situation of energy efficiency in the industrial sector of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(2) Energy conservation action in daily life and industrial sector
Created an animation (15 minutes long) for building awareness of energy conservation among students, and showed it at the Workshop.

Welcome remarks were made by Dr. Khaled Al-Ghefaili, Executive Director, HIPF, opening remarks were made by Mr. Sho Inokuchi, Director, METI, and a felicitation speech was made by H.E. Mr. Fumio Iwai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan.
Around 50 people participated in the Workshop, a productive question and answer session and interactive quiz were held, and it was possible to share knowledge and experiences relating to methods for realizing energy efficiency in the industrial sector and even in their daily life.
