・The two-day workshop period from Sep. 4 to 5, 2018 was implemented in three sections, consisting of (1) a lecture, (2) a roundtable conference, and (3) a panel discussion. The busiest period gathered an audience of more than 100 people, and the results of a questionnaire also revealed a favorable assessment of the activities, achieving 4.5 points out of a maximum 5 points in the overall assessment.

・ECCJ participated in all of the sections by giving introductions to the activities of Japanese organizations promoting EE&C, the latest situation on EE&C technology development, and EE&C technologies and case examples at factories in Japan. ECCJ also spoke about the EE&C technologies that have been frequently used in the petrochemical industry in Japan over the last 20 years and the possibilities of applying them in Taiwan, the possibility of market development in Taiwan for the EE&C visualization tool (ENE-CAT), etc., and made some proposals for realizing multilateral EE&C promotion in industrial circles.

・The findings obtained from throughout the workshop are as follows.

(1) Although Taiwanese EE&C is proceeding steadily through corporate-based responses in the individual technologies and equipment market, the preparation of systems for overall EE&C activities will be an issue for the future. Regarding the EE&C-related cooperation and support projects that could be implemented by ECCJ, it will be necessary to respond to specific requests by continually exchanging information with organizations including the Foundation of Taiwan Industry Service and the Taiwan ESCO Association. It will also be effective to make good use of the information networks of local corporations and the Taiwanese branches of Japanese-affiliated manufacturers.

(2) With regard to the EE&C visualization tool (ENE-CAT), ECCJ could generate a certain degree of interest and attention among the local related persons who participated in the workshop this time. Because it is estimated that there is some degree of possibility for market development, ECCJ intends to proceed with market development mainly through the Taiwan ESCO Association.
